iPhone Twitter App Tournament: Quarterfinals: (1) Tweeterena vs. (4) SimplyTweet

Lets get right to it and start the third match up of out quarter final round, Tweeterena v SimplyTweet.

I think my decision between these two apps all come down to their visual appeal to me and others. Tweeterena seems to have a very busy look, with buttons that don't need to be added in certain spots, and some very distracting themes. I would say if the default theme was modified, my first impression might be better. The colors just seem out of place and it doesn't seem as smooth as other apps. SimplyTweet on the other hand has a very smooth looking interface, atleast after you get past the default theme. The default theme goes with a bubble like theme, which I used to like, but now its seems clunky. Once you change the theme (I recommend Twilight), it is much more eye catching. The interface is smooth and beautiful. Everything is where ti should be and there isn't added buttons and designs that are not needed. Both apps provide you with both Picture and Video posting. I feature that most people like, Instapaper is integrated into SimplyTweet. The last feature that really puts SimplyTweet over the top in this match up is their inclusion of Push messages inside the app, from all apps, instead of having to use a second application. This will save people from having to spend extra money on an app like Boxcar (note: I use Boxcar to be able to switch clients when I want).

SimplyTweet

Tweeterena

Because of the smoother interface and the inclusion of Push I would have to say the winner of this match up is:

SimplyTweet

This review isn't very detailed. You can change the theme in tweeterena as well and it has a lot more themes to offer than just the one you mentioned here. You clearly have not explored these applications fully. I've been with tweeterena from the start and nothing has come close, to its beauty, its personal preference, I believe it is very pretty.

@Penny Wright I know I did not go into a lot of detailed in this review, since this is the second round of the tournament. I already did in depth reviews of both Tweeterena (http://techydaily.com/home/2009/10/2/iphone-twitter-app-tournament-preliminaries-1-twitterena-vs.html) and SimplyTweet (http://techydaily.com/home/2009/8/19/iphone-twitter-app-tournament-preliminaries-4-simplytweet-vs.html). While Tweeterena does have other themes that are more attractive than the default, I just do not believe it stacks up against SimplyTweet in design. Everyone has there own opinion on what they find to be the best look for a client. Thanks much for your opinion.
