Review: MiLi Power Pack

It's always nice to get my hands on a case made by a lesser known manufacturer. Usually they are a case that you don't see around and you get a bit of a surprise when you try them out. I would say that this is the case with the MiLi Power Pack for the iPhone. Power packs for the iPhone is a growing market, and with the battery on the iPhone not being exactly for road warriors, they come in handy.

Read on for more of the review.

I would say that the MiLi Power Pack isn't the most well designed case to fit the iPhone. The bottom where you have access to In/Out USB ports, instead of having a smooth tapered edge, it has corners and an edge. Unlike the Incase Power Slider that I have used before, this Power Pack does not allow the iPhone to sit deep in the case. This creates a look with the phone that I am not fond of. This makes the case feel like extra plastic on the phone and not part of the phone. Also, since the case does not enclose the phone completely, it is very easy to slide it out when grabbing it out of your pocket. It also does not form fit to the phone very well, leaving some awkward cracks between the phone and the case where pocket lint and dust can accumulate. The power button and power LED's are nicely located, mimicking the iPhones home key placement. It is a substantial button, and will not be hard to press, and you will know when you have succeeded in pressing it. Also, when ordering the device, there is a choice or colors. I chose white and orange because of the fact that my school colors include orange. I was disappointed when I received my review unit that the actual color was more of a yellow than an orange. I wouldn't have minded if they referred to it as yellow, as it still looks nice, but I wanted Orange.

Now just because this device isn't the best designed in the market it does not mean that it does not have its place. During tests to see the battery run off, it should pretty good numbers. It is basically like another iPhone battery attached to your device. It will pretty much double the time that you have to use your device. On a normal day, while doing regular tasks, I can usually get my battery down to about 50% by the end of the day. With the MiLi Power Pack fully charged and attached as soon as I unplug it from my clock radio, the iPhone battery is not even touched. Through use though, I do not recommend this pack for all day use.

I believe that the market for the MiLi Power Pack is not a every day keep on your iPhone at all times accessories. I believe that this is an accessory that you leave in your backpack, briefcase, or in your car and attach it when you feel you battery is dying and you are on an important phone call that you cant afford to end. It is perfect in this situation. It is easy to attach since it is once piece and is an easy slide in. Also, since it has the power switch and long life, you can turn it on when needed, then off when not in use, and it will last quite a while.

I've tested most of the Juice Packs. The Mili isn't bad, however i dislike the design. On the other hand, it's a little cheaper than the ones on www.mophie.com. But, if you're the one who cares about the price, then consider OEM products. Made in the Same factories and half the price of Mili and Mophie. SKPAD from France is a good example. The power of their packs is really good. Another website www.ibatterycase.nl has also the same models as Mophie, but available for a way better price!
